The competition regulations

The competition information

1. 2 evaluators in each station will examine the performance of each competing team and will fill in a checklist. The evaluators will be from different MDA regions. Information regarding the grading will be given to the teams only at the end of the competition, and not at the end of each station.

2. In each station there may be an actor or mannequin (simple mannequin and advanced simulation mannequin), or a combined scenario.

3. Scenarios with actors
The team members are obligated to respect the actor and treat him as a real patient. One should not cause pain to the actor. It is forbidden to perform any invasive procedure including infusion . It is allowed to perform auscultation to the actors and connect them to monitor and E.C.G., take their blood pressure and pulse.

Questioning the actors
Medical history will be taken from the actor. The actor is familiar with the scenario and will be able to answer all the questions. Each question will be registered and points will be given or taken away according to the case and the relevance of the anamnesis. The actor has a checklist of his own which he fills in at the end of the treatment in the station.

Performing skills on actors
The results of the pulse will be given after palpation of the radial artery (or other artery) during 15 seconds. The team member will give the accurate pulse of the actor, and receive from the evaluator the "correct" pulse of the "patient". The same process will apply for blood pressure, auscultation etc. The result of blood pressure will be given after connecting the cuff taking the actors blood pressure. The result of saturation will be given after connecting the saturation meter. If an E.C.G is needed, the team will give the E.C.G of the actor to the evaluator, and receive in return the "patient's" E.C.G. Opening IV line will be performed by gluing venflon (without the needle) on the hand of the actor. Fluid administration will be performed by rinsing an infusion set and putting it beside the actor. Drugs administration will be performed by taking the vial out of the medicine bag and preparing the injection in the right order. The person who gives the medicine will declare the name of the drug, the way of diluting, the way of administering and the dosage. Regarding Narcan and Morphine,
One should use one vial in the right volume and declare that this is a methodical drug. Oxygen should be given by connecting the mask to the neck of the patient and adjusting the LPM valve according to the instruction. (Without actually opening the O2 tank).

Scenarios with Mannequins
The teams should be familiar with the technical capabilities of the mannequins participating in the competition and their abilities and available skill options. In order to avoid misunderstandings, it is necessary to pay attention to this aspect. In a scenario with a mannequin the physical examination should be performed as if it is a real patient. The evaluators will receive the results by feedback taken from the advanced mannequins, according to the mechanical abilities of the mannequin. Note that some mannequins can have their pulse taken, blood pressure taken, be ausculated, intubated and even
